Turning an X31 DVD into region-free

#1 Post by rhz » Sat Apr 01, 2006 1:24 pm

Hi,

We have an X31 purchased in the US a few years ago. We would like to watch DVD's from other regions on the computer. Can anyone recommend a simple, free procedure for making this possible?

Thanks,

RHZ

Try VLC, a great and free (like Firefox) open source video player. It uses far less resources and gives a better picture than the IBM Intervideo one...

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

VLC may be able to do multiple regions. If not, you can always use DVDdecrypter, rip it to your hard drive (use the "region free" setting, which is enabled by default), and then play it from your hard drive with VLC or Intervideo WinDVD.

Hope this helps!

You can also try the program AnyDVD by http://www.slysoft.com/. It allows to change the region code as often as you like for each drive.

You can test it for free for 21 days.
