Tight fitting protective case for X30 series?

#1 Post by zyphria » Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:38 am

I just spent close to an hour hunting around for a protective case for my X31 that is on the way and I haven't had much luck. I'm looking for something tight fitting as I'm going to be putting it in an unprotected backpack, since laptop bags are targeted by thieves in my area.

Any recommendations?

I went to the local dive shop and they referred me to a guy who custom makes wetsuits. I gave him the dimensions of my machine and got one made from 1/4" thick neoprene. I recall that it cost about $30 and gives really good protection. I don't recall the name of wetsuit company, but any dive shop shop should be able to help you.

I'll look into the neoprene.

The BooqBags and the others are too flashy, I'd get it snagged in a heartbeat.

But if you put your pc in a "flashy" sleeve and then put it in your backback (as you intended to), why would they snag your backpack then? (Is it a clear plastic one? ;))

Nope, just a ratty looking navy blue backpack.

I purchased a case from NewEgg called the "Macally sponge" for about eighteen dollars. It's for the 12 inch mac but fit's my x32 like a glove. It zipps, has convertable handles and is designed so you can use the laptop without removing it from the case. It would be perfect for what you are discribing.

Listen joprodse , I have an tombihn sleeve for both my Thinkpads and they are super quality and give superior protection to its precious cargo. And they have hooks for mounting an strap and handels so if you stressed then just take it with you every where you go.

Good luck
