Connecting Thinkpad X40 to TV

Hello, I am looking for a way to hook up X40 to my 27" analog TV. I've purchased a HD15 Male to Mini Din 4 Pin Female and RCA Female cable from eBay, but the image on the TV is black and white and very distorted. Any suggestions?

check the resolution your tv supports maximum. for eg i have to switch to 800x600 when connected to tv, anyway i do it only when i want to watch a movie and havent already written it on dvd.
