selling academic x41t

#1 Post by heiss » Wed Apr 26, 2006 9:09 pm

Hi everyone,

I want to sell my tablet cause I figured out I really don't need a tablet. I will go with either x60s or t60.

What I'm wondering is that whether I can sell the model that I've got from the academic discount price from my school. The website of my school says it is not resellible. Does it mean I should keep it forever, or it just means no one can buy bunch of them and resell them for the sake of making money?

Plus, what happens to the warranty if I sell it oversea?

Thanks folks.

The latter is correct, you can't purchase them for resale, but there's no restriction in selling your personal unit.

Depends on whether it's an international warranty.

Thanks a lot. I have a three year warranty; but how can I know whether it is international warranty?

you guys are having fun with my typo. I don't know why it says just 'I am." Anyway, yeah, I'm going to Harvard and graduating soon. I'm asking around $1500. But still wondering it is really good idea to go with T60 cause I hated T43 because of the fan noise.

At this point, it seems that fan noise is really the luck of the draw when it comes to the T60; but what are you going to be using the new Thinkpad for?

The T60, and the T Series Line in general, strikes a good balance of mobility and performance; so if it is going to be your main computer and you do some fairly heavy duty work on it, the T60 sounds like a good bet. If, however, you plan on being very mobile and have either a desktop or don't need the extra processing power, then the X60 sounds good.

Good luck with your studies and graduation. :)

I've compared T60 and X60s today. while X60 seems great too, the build quality of T60 struck me. It seemed like a mini tank. I may go with T60. Thanks all anyway.

As an FYI about transferring warranties on educational units, I picked up an R51 from eBay that was an educational model. Last month (April 2006), IBM replaced the system board and LCD and never questioned where I got the unit or what I did. Doesn't seem to be an issue.
