Boot X21 from PC Card?

#1 Post by The Spirit of X21 » Sat Apr 29, 2006 11:48 am

Hi folks,

This is my first post, so please allow me to introduce myself. I own close to a dozen Macs (most about 7-10 years old) but when I gave my iBook to my sister (a G4, oh how I miss it!) I decided to look for something ultra-portable. IBM had such an excellent reputation that I decided to get my feet wet - so I picked up an X21! It's a lovely machine, and I have some plans for it. . .

I would like to install Xubuntu GNU/Linux and dual boot it and Windows XP. However, I do not own an ultrabase for the X21. I do, however, have an external Pioneer DVR-110BK burner in a FireWire (IEEE 1394) enclosure. Is it possible to boot the ThinkPad from the drive using a FireWire PC Card adapter and install Linux in this way?
