Can a SATA hard drive be used in an X31?

Newer Thinkpads (T/X/Z60) come with SATA hard drives. Can a SATA drive be used in an X31?

Thanks, Captain! Next questions: 1) can a standard ATA-100 drive (the kind found in the X31) be used in an X60, 2) can such a drive be used in the Ultra Bay Slim adapter (P/N 40Y8725) for the Ultrabase X6?

Read this thread. Or you can connect it via a USB adaptor. External laptop HD USB cases are widely available over here for as little as US$20 or less, should be the same in SF.

No, that's for SATA HDs only AFAIK, but apparently the 2nd HD adapter for the T4X series can be used in the T60 machines.

OK, thanks again! I've never seen a SATA drive live so far and I'm only slowly starting to understand it's not interoperable with older ATA drives, although the external size is the same (2.5"/9.5mm). Does the physical connector of a SATA drive look something like this (pic found in a Tom's Hardware article)?

OK, looks like I'm going to need two separate 2nd HDD adapters (in addition to the one I already have for the Ultrabase X3 of my X31), for use with the Ultrabase X6 of my forthcoming X60s: 1) 40Y8725 and 2) 62P4554.
