#1 Post by bigtiger » Thu May 04, 2006 10:33 pm

I heard that X40 got embedded CPU. Is it possible to change CPU anyway? I think I got a dead CPU but Motherboard seems to work.

I you do it yourself you will void the warranty on the machine.
Besides the CPU is molded to the mobo so its best to return to nearest Lenovo/IBM handler for repair.
Isnt the machine still in warranty?

Good luck

thank you.

The machine is already out of warranty. I think I will just try to do it by myself.

IBM quotes me $400 to fix it. A new motherboard from ebay sometime sells for$300. So I think I will just try my luck.
