X20 Battery Life

#1 Post by pavedroad » Sun Aug 01, 2004 11:47 pm

Hi everyone, I just bought a used X20 and I have a question about the battery life. The battery in it still seems good, but I don't know if it lasts as long as it should. It is 3200mAh original IBM and I can just barely squeeze 2 hours out of it with the screen on lowest brightness, Max Battery power setting, and wireless on. Is this battery life normal? If not, what should I be expecting?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

With mobilemeter http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/ you can see what model battery it is and how much the actual full capacity and the designed capacity is (right mouseclick/optoins/battery information).
With my slightly smaller battery I can easily do two hours on the portable/laptop scheme, so I suspect that there is some wear on your battery, but not too much.
Hope this helps.

Kind regards, Timothy

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I can't run it =( It says it can't communicate with the ACPI driver. I'm also having problems installing the ACPI driver that IBM provides for WinXP (see my other post). However, I did install the power management software provided by IBM (MaxiMiser) and it gives my battery health a yellow box. I've already cycled it three times as per their recommendation, so I guess this battery has lost some capacity.
