will multiple bat. charger I go with a 56w charger?

#1 Post by dorin » Sat May 06, 2006 7:52 am

hi guys,

i wanna buy a multiple battery charger (P/N: 02K6719
) for my x40, but on its page
(http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4PBKB7)
its is stated it goes only with 72w charger, but my x40 came with a 56w(maybe that's why ibm says i should get the multiple bat charger II)

so, what do you think, will it work? is any chance to affect the batteries?

thanks alot,

dorin

I took a look at the page you referenced. At the bottom of the page it shows the models supported. Then it says it requires a 72 Watt adapter. But that adapter is to run the charger, so I don't think it has anything to do with the charger on your ThinkPad. So as long as your model type is supported, it should work. ... JD Hurst

the x40 is not mentioned there. the adapter i have is a 56w so that i was wondering what can happen if i use mine (56w) and not the 72w required one in the multiple bat charger?

thanks for any replies

The adapter that came with your ThinkPad is underpowered to run the charger. Ohms Law = It could overheat and be damaged and/or not charge the batteries properly. Do not use the wrong adapter.

You're in luck! I just bought one off morgie in the forums for use with my X41 4 cell and 8 cell batteries. The multiple battery charger works perfectly with my 56W adapter. The adapter actually runs much cooler than when it was plugged to the laptop!!! Can anyone explain this??

Go on, buy it. Very good investment, particularly when the silly multiple battery charger II costs around 100GBP!!!!

I had that worry as well, but the 2 batteries are not charged simutaneouly. It charges the first one you put in first, then the 2nd one after the first one is fully charged.

This also works with my X30/31 batteries as well, in case anyone else was interested.
