ok to put in empty SD card in slot?

I was wondering if it's ok to leave in a blank SD card (without the mini SD card inside) in the X40. This is so I have the blank card ready whenever I want to tranfer data from my cell phone's mini SD.

I do not see a problem. If the mini card is not in the sd adapter, seems like it would not be recognized at all. Hence, it would not even know there was a card in the slot. Well, I just tried it and seems to have no ill effects other than the green light staying on... I will reply back after 10 minutes with an update...

Green light is still on..... I guess it is scanning for data. On a side note, I leave a real SD card (1gig) in the reader at all times and have auto backup for the important stuff run daily. When doing that, the light is only on when the drive is in use... So yea, I guess it is searching for non existant data.... One more thing, after removing the "ghost" card the light continued to stay on untill I inserted a card real card (one with storage).

Thanks for the reply and trial. I've just lost my blank SD card so there goes that. When I do find it , I've decide to just stick it in my laptop case. No point in driving my laptop crazy looking for non-existing data.

I already got a beater USB CF card already for transferring general memory to general devices. The SD is not as widely available in devices.
