Change Internal Wireless card in X30

#1 Post by joprodse » Sat May 13, 2006 5:42 pm

Is it possible to swap the internal wifi-card in my X30 (2672-4HG) to one that supports 802.11G and WPA? (Yes I know it's easier to just slip a PC-Card in it)
Anyone know the partnumber for such a card?

I'll let you know next week. I order an Atheros g+ miniPCI card from eBay.

I should have it by next Friday.

Supposidly with the X30 there should be no problem. In some machines the BIOS has a whitepaper which will block certain wifi cards. But from what I read, the only affects machines introduced after the X30 (X31 onward).

I'm hoping there is no problem, but if there is it may be able to be fixed using the no1802program, which removes the 1802 error that will come up on the screen when you try to boot up your system.

I'll let you know next week.

Anyone out there know for sure if the X30 BIOS can accept any wifi card?

I just put an Atheros in my X32 and had to hunt down a no-1802 patch to use it.

Sorry, my X32 has the ultrabase, which of course made things easy.
