Will X31 boot from external hard drive?

#1 Post by elray » Tue May 16, 2006 8:34 pm

I'm planning to get an X31 very soon. But from what I've read over the years, having USB 2.0 doesn't guarantee external boot capability.

Can I expect the X31 to be fussy in this regard? Are there known working external drives? Should I be thinking firewire instead?

The X31 will BOOT from almost anything, including an external USB HD.

It will even BOOT from a Compact Flash card or Microdrive in the CF slot.

I also have an X31, but the boot menu in my BIOS does not contain all those options. How do I get them?

Which are missing?

If the USB devices, you need to enable USB BIOS support in Config.

Got the latest BIOS installed?
