x21 cooling system help

hello
i got me this x21. works fine, except it blocked down 2-3 times . i felt it realy hot so i opend it up going directly to the vent
that seems ok, but the part connecting to the cpu, is like this :



is this how it's supposed to be ???
(this is the firs laptop cooling thingy i see, and i know that desktop cpu coolers are flawlesly flat. plus a layer of gel)

That bulge is not at all right...

Try smoothing it out. It's supposed to be like those desktop HSFs.

Otherwise... try a new HSF, although I got one and it barely helped my temperatures - running 72 C at full load right now, and that's underclocked to 500 MHz.
