X31 Network Problems

#1 Post by mgerbasio » Thu May 25, 2006 3:33 pm

Hi,
I have a X31 2672CBU but I've been having network problems since the last upgrade a few months ago. It wasn't an issue since I only needed the wireless connection but now I need wired and wireless. All drivers and software have been updated via the ThinkVantage System Update tool.

I have the wireless network card Intel PRO 2100 3B and I'm using ThinkVantage Access Connections. The problem is I can't have the wireless and onboard ethernet card enabled at the same time. when I do, the system will work for a while but then lock up. Suspend/Hibernate doesn't work either.
Tech support hasn't been at all helpful. Basically they tell me to reinstall the drivers and AC, which I did before I called, and when that doesn't work they suggest I reinstall Windows.
Any suggestions?

There's a Network Bridge feature that's supposed to allow you to connect with both Wireless and Wired at the same time.

Right click on the Network icon and select Properties. You should see Network Bridge listed under Network Connections. Right click on the icon to see if it is enabled.

I had problems getting my X31 to connect properly with either wired or wireless until I disabled the 1394 Connection and Network Bridge. Right click on the icon and select Disable to turn them off.

Network Connections eat up a lot of battery especially the Wireless Connection. I created icons on my Desktop for Wireless and Wired Connection. I disable them when I'm on the road and don't require a network connection. It gives me more battery life.
