hi!

I got the last demonstration model they got in the shop. Maybe that's why the battery is that bad.

are there any known problems with the x40 battery?
i charged it to 100 percent, and then it only showed 1:30 minutes to go?

I use "High System Performance", but I don't play, I am just surfing all the time!

shall I perform the BATTERY RECONDITION?

thanks in advice and
best regards,
KITT

Hi
Check when the battery is produced ,there is an label under the battery there it should be an date when its produced or you can check it under battery info in Windows. If it rather old and has not been taken cared of then in all likely hood it is almost worn out.
You should run battery condition every month or tvo, so start by doing that.
Is it an 4 cell battery or an 8 cell?

can't I go to the vendor, I bought the notebook yesterday, and blame him for giving me a notebook with a bad battery?

Set your power setting to maximum battery and see how long the battery lasts. Running in performance mode definitely drains your battery faster then anything....

My guess is that your battery is fine.

Some thoughts, since you just purchased it I would certainly go back immediately, explain your problem see how they respond.

It's not your responsibility to have to charge or recondition this battery. You are entitled to a proper functioning battery.

I'm wondering how old the computer is? How long was it out on display? Was it new? Did they take it out of the sealed box it comes in, and then put it into demonstrator use? If so when?

Since it was a demonstrator did they sell it to you at a discounted price?

Finally if you are not happy with the battery and they are not willing to give you a new battery, then ask them to sell it to you for 1/2 their cost. Not the retail price. That way they would be paying half and you would be paying half.

Let me know how it turns out.

Good Luck and Cheers Mate... :D

they sold me the notebook for the half price 2 days ago :)
but still I'd like to have a full battery.

He even sold it to me for less than 1/2 price. and even sold me 1GB memory for nearly half the price.
i really had a bad feeling, because I got it so cheap.

thanks for the pm archer!

hi there,

with the 4cell bat, even when my x40 was brand new i couldnt get more than 1.3 hrs with everything on max. reduce the lcd brightness, put it to super power saving, install NHC (i do have the 1.4ghz cpu, so if as well ask me to give you the settings) and fan control and you can easily can go up to 4-4.5hrs or 9.5-10 hrs (4 cell resp 8 cell and as mentioned super power saving profile, otherwise, like dvds, 3hrs / 6hrs)

so, with half price you got yourself a pretty good deal. anyway the warranty is valid for at least a year, so if you have problems call ibm, thats what i did when a cell out of the 4 cell bat died (from 30% was dropping to 5% straight), and they'll send you a new one!

hope it helped,

dorin
