Wi Fi connection problems - help appreciated!

#1 Post by jmattk » Mon Aug 09, 2004 11:42 pm

Hello, folks!

I've already lost a day to this problem and am hoping to get your help in limiting the damage to the rest of week.

My new x40 connected wonderfully to my wireless g connection up until today. I had no profiles saved under Access Connections, but the icon for the Intel 2200bg signal was strong and green. The internet connection was great.

So today I figure I'll try and finally run the network configuration tools in XP so as to share documents and all. Something happened during this - obviously some settings got junked - and now Access Connections can't see the wireless network, but the 'network' connection CAN.

So everything works - sharing, internet, etc., and after reading through the forum I've tried everything else mentioned: disabling the MS Zero configuration service, re-installing the driver to the adapter, updating Access Connections to 3.21, and nothing works. It just kills my whole connection, says that the network driver needs to be updated and can't be communicated with, and I end up turning Zero Config back on and reading through the forums and IBM site over and over.

Any suggestions? I'm going nuts...

You've probably done this but...

Uninstall Access Connections and all the drivers for the wifi card you have installed. Then install the Intel 2200 drivers from IBM's website. Make sure everything works. Then install Access Connections.

Also, SP2 has a new wifi configuration wizard that might be useful to you. If you don't hop networks alot, I guess you don't really need AC...
