Active Protection System on my X41 constantly shutdown ??

#1 Post by bigtiger » Thu Jun 29, 2006 5:33 pm

Active Protection System on my X41 constantly shutdown. Anybody knows why?

It seems to me that some software is in conflit with the APS. it will run a few minutes, then shutdown by itself. Do not know why. I upgraded the firmware on my 60G hd already.

here is the message:

Active protection is not functioning as sysem detected the abnormal sensor status. To diagnose the sensor device, run PC doctor dos-hdd active protection test and if it still shows, contact help and service.

I do not have an ultrabase now, so, didnot test yet. But I have a feeling that it is software problem.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Active Protection. Also consider that the hard drive may be going bad. If under warranty, contact IBM support. The old hard drive / APS conflict was a couple of years ago, but some combination may have returned. ... JD Hurst

Thank you, Mod.

I already did a un/re-installing. The hard drive is from Burst. I see a 20060101. I guess it is made in 2006.

Sadly, it is out of warranty as I pretty built the machine up by myself.
