Anyway to create Recovery CDs if I cant boot into windows?

#1 Post by bonez318ti » Tue Jul 04, 2006 7:44 am

I've got bad sectors on my drive that prevents me from booting into windows. Using Knoppix, I've been able to get most of my existing data intact (i keep my data on a separate partition).

Im going to go buy a new hard drive, but I'd like to reinstall the IBM rescue and recovery software partition.. how can i go about that?

I havent yet tried to copy anything over from the C drive as I'm not exactly sure which files I need to copy over, or even the process i would need to do to make the service partition.

(btw. when i say service partition I am referring to what loads when you hit the blue access button.. I ran chkdsk before and now it no longer starts R&R when I hit the access button.. it just brings me to some menu asking me if i want to modifiy the bios)

ANy help is appreciated. Thanks
