My X40 hard drive crapped out, can someone verify that this is the correct one to replace? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822145094

Anyone know where I can pick up a 60 gig version? they dont seem to have it at newegg.

Thanks

btw. I'm still looking for a way to get the service partition onto the new drive? The access button doesnt bring it up anymore since i ran chkdsk... if anyone has any sugestions, that would be great. Thanks

Service Partition

The usual way to restore the IBM Service Partition is to do it from a set of restore CDs which you can make when your service partition is working, which yours isn't.

I'd call up IBM if the machine is still under warranty and ask them for a set of restore CDs. If they try to charge for them, tell them that you would have made them yourself but your hard drive died, so you can't. Usually they will then give them to you free.
