Hi All,
I am new to this forum - so if I posted this in the wrong place please do move this into an appropriate location.
I have an X41 - once in a while I have br_funcs.exe process that runs in the system and occupies 30-40% CPU and the HDD is being used througly.
oI've located this file under c:\programfiles\thinkvantage\rescue and recovery\ -> I understand it is doing somekind of backup (similar to the system restore.
How do I disable this?
In the meantime I have renamed the EXE file - but I believe this is a clobbersome solution.
Thank you for your assistance,
Gabriel

BR_FUNCS.EXE is the program that takes backups of your system. By default, Rescue and Recovery takes a backup of you system once a week. There are a couple possible solutions here if you don't want that to happen.
1. If you don't want or don't use Rescue and Recovery, then why not uninstall it? You can do that from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. If you do this then obviously you will not be able to restore your system in the event of a failure.
2. See if you have scheduled backups to occur automatically in Rescue and Recovery. Look in Start -> Programs -> IBM or IBM ThinkVantage or ThinkVantage (depending on what version you have) -> Rescue and Recovery. You should see a button for "Set Schedule and Preferences". Dig around in there and you should be able to tell if you are scheduling regular backups to occur.
Hope this helps
