X31 USB port can power external cd drive?

#1 Post by snowcrash » Sun Jul 30, 2006 5:20 am

Hello

I tried searching but couldn't get a find a definite answer

I have an X31 and planning to purchase an external USB 2.0 cd-rw/dvd-rom drive.
The drive can be used with a fully powered usb port (without the need for an ac adaptor) - wanted to make sure the X31 port can power the drive?

thanks

I have an external drive right now being powered by the USB port on my X31, and also one on my X30.

As burners use slightly more power when burning than when just reading media, you might have to use connections to both the USB ports to see proper service from the drive.

Shouldn't be a problem as almost all external devices come with dual connectors nowadays.
