#1 Post by Steen » Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:01 am

Can this be used in a X31 2672: KVR333X64SC25/1G (Kingston product number).

I know this much about it:

Kingston ValueRAM
1GB 333MHz DDR Non-ECC CL2.5 SODIMM

Detailed Specifications: Standard 128M X 64 Non-ECC 333MHz 200-pin Unbuffered SODIMM (SDRAM-DDR, 2.5V, CL2.5, Gold)

X31 RAM?

#4 Post by losmeme » Wed Sep 13, 2006 10:39 am

I have just ordered an X31 from IBM EPP. I started looking in the HMM, and noticed that there are two different speeds of DDR modules shipped with the X31 depending on model.

I have ordered X31 2672-CXU, which is originally spec'd with PC2100 RAM. Will PC2700 or PC3000 be recognized in this model?? The machine ships with only 256MB, so I will be replacing both modules.

Thanks for the insight

You should be able to use PC2700, but according to the tabook for models that shipped with PC2700 memory - "memory controller limits memory speed to 266MHz."

yep definately!

I only use pc2700 chips in my x31 and they work flawlessly, but ofcourse only at pc2100 speeds.

Thanks for that, guys. I realize that it will only perform at PC2100 speeds, but with the price of memory, good to futureproof myself and possibly use these modules for a later machine.
