X24 RAM maximization

#1 Post by TomStearns » Tue Aug 22, 2006 7:29 pm

My X24 2662 MXU has apparently 392M of RAM with 87.5M "available." I want to install speech to text software but it balks, saying I need more RAM. How much more can I install, at what cost, and does this make sense or should I get a newer machine?

Well, the max you can put in your X24 is 640Mb, and you do this by getting a 512Mb stick and replacing the 256Mb that you have now. The other 128Mb is soldered to the motherboard, so there's nothing you can do to upgrade that part of the memory.

The 512Mb stick part number for this is KTM-TP133/512. It should cost you about $50 in eBay. I would first try to find out if this will suffice as far as RAM requirements for your new software, but I think it probably will.

Regards
