So I decided to upgrade my hard drive on the X31, but noticed that on the original hard drive there was a tray/protector. The tray/protector is attached to the hard drive by 4 screws... I assume it is to protect the drive from being shorted due to the exposed circuit board underneath the hard drive. These also exist on the T40 and possible T41 and T42.
Have anyone installed a drive without this tray/protector? Anyone know what the part number is if I need to order one?
IBM can't seem to find the part number....
