Weird problem with X31, WLAN and Access Connections

My Windows XP and Access Connections do not seem to think the same about the speed of my WLAN connection.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The zero configuration WLAN service is disabled because I use Access Connections.

Just compare the two red boxes and look at the speed. AC always (!!) thinks I am on 100% signal (and "Ausgezeichnet" means "Excellent") but the shown Mbit speed is correct (as the router/ap is quite far away) but Windows in its bubble info says it`s 54mbit connection and the signal is "Sehr Gering" (which means "Very Low").

Any ideas why the contradiction ?! How can I fix it?

I don't think you really need to fix anything - what WinXP reports is not the actual throughput speed, but rather the type of connection. 54MBps would be 802.11g - if you had 802.11b or bluetooth ver. 1.x, you'd get 11MBps, even if the actual throughput was much lower.

AC must be reporting actuals rather than theoretical.

Yer but why does AC report 100% signal strength and an Excellent signal?

this is surely not the case as it only connects with 18mbit on a 802.11g connection.

also, windows says the signal is "very low", so AC must be wrong with 100% strength and "Excellent"
