IBM usb external dvd burner on ebay

i just recieved my new x41 and need a external cd drive for it ... i saw this on ebay they claim that is oem ibm drive but they are selling it for so cheap compare to the price from the lenovo website ... is this really the oem ibm drive and is it save to buy it? http://cgi.ebay.com/Slim-IBM-USB2-0DVD- ... dZViewItem

This is an OEM NEC burner in a neutral black enclosure. Probably the only thing the other seller did was having a number of enclosures made with IBM stamped or stickered on them. I have one of those generic externals (in my case with a Sony drive inside) and it looks exactly like the 'IBM'. I fee that the price in your case seems a bit low for a DVD burner, if it is a direct buy. Makes one wonder.

I know you can get the official Lenovo external unit with a DVD 8x burner from the Lenovo Canada site for $179 CDN.

Not sure about this one, but requires two usb 2.0 ports. It's completely powered by USB.
