X21 Processor Upgrade

#1 Post by red5torm » Thu Sep 14, 2006 6:54 am

Can the X21 Celeron 500 be upgraded to P3-800MHz?

Any info would indeed help. Thanks.

im pretty sure you'll have to upgrade the whole logic board in order to do that...furthermore the cpu is integrated on the boards on the x series thinkpads, so you can't just replace the cpu.

Thats correct, all X-series CPUs are soldered on.

you could alway try to desolder it and solder a new one on. However, you'll have to be some kind of god to accomplish that. :D

Thanks for all your reply.

I wonder if the bloke who's selling me the processor can install it on my unit.

Regards!
