If it isn't working, you will most likely need to buy some kind of part, whether it be a CCFL (backlight), inverter, or replacement LCD.....or worst case scenario...a replacement systemboard.
Regardless, $150 might be a good price, depending on exactly what is wrong with it. The inverter is cheap and easy to replace. The CCFL is cheap but a nightmare to replace. The LCD and systemboards are expensive, but easier to replace than the CCFL.
If I had the ability, I would pick it up myself for that price.

You're in kind of a rough spot, unless the current owner will allow you to take the system apart using the Hardware Maintenance Manual. Chances are though, if it is a simple connection problem, the price might jump up on your pretty quickly, because $150 (USD or CAN) is very cheap for an X30.zaku wrote:so how can we know which of the parts you mentionned is the one that's causing the problem? like how do we check it?
As for telling whether it is the Inverter, CCFL, etc, it will depend on a couple of things. Did the current owner notice any red/pink tint upon boot, prior to the LCD going out? Was it sudden?
If it was sudden, then chances are it might be the inverter. If there was a red/pink tint, then chances are it is the CCFL.
Now, keep in mind that these "signs" are not definate signs of the specific parts, but are generally indicators.
also it will probably be the ccfl if the screen flickers....tfflivemb2 wrote:You're in kind of a rough spot, unless the current owner will allow you to take the system apart using the Hardware Maintenance Manual.
