X40 display blinks

#1 Post by msafi » Mon Oct 02, 2006 3:45 am

Hi,

The display of my X40 blinks randomly. It has happened to me about 5 times in about a one week period so far. The display just goes dark and come back in an instant. It's like a blink.

Anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Interesting. Mine has been doing the same over the past few months. Very intermittent, it seems. My X40 is on for roughly 10 hours a day, and I may see once every two days or so (although I'm not *looking* at it 10 hours a day).

If I hook it up to an external display, seems to happen there as well.

I've just accepted the fact that this machine is 2.5 years old, has been around the world (literally) 5 times, been on numerous regional trips in the Pacific, and back and forth to my office at least three times a week. It's got a quite a few miles on the chasis...

my old T23 does that, but not my X and I've had mine for 2 years, it's been on many many flights as well.

how old is yours? i think your battery just can't give it enough voltage probably.

Mine does it whilst plugged into the mains, but I guess it makes sense for the battery to be the culprit if otherwise. Hadn't thought of it!

I've been experiencing the same problems too, with or without an external display. It's been occurring ever since I bought the laptop in Aug. of 2004.

I thought it was normal, until I saw this thread....perhaps some computer engineers can provide some sort of explanation or theory? :)
