Questions from a new X30 Owner

Hitachi 7K100
Additional 512MB module
Atheros A/B/G card

I'm loving this machine, but I have a few more questions that I have not been able to answer by searching the forums.

1) Fn+SPACE. From what I gather, this key combination should maximize the current window. When I press this key combo, nothing happens. I installed a retail copy of XP pro on this machine, and downloaded most of the drivers and utilities from the lenovo.com website. Did I miss one?

2) New batteries. Looking on EBAY, it seems that the going rate for a 3rd party battery is about $50 shipped. Are these any good? Once in a while, I will see new genuine IBM batteries for $70+ shipped. Does IBM still make these, and do "new" batteries have a "shelf life" if they go unused for years? Any other sources for new batteries?

3) Fit and finish. The laptop feels very solid for the most part. The only exception is the battery. I have an original IBM battery, but it "wiggles" in its socket a bit. There is about 1mm of play if I push on the battery from the bottom. is this normal?
