#1 Post by Nitehawk » Tue Oct 10, 2006 8:15 pm

I have an X40 without a hard drive, so i need to buy one. do all the hitachi drives fit or only special models.

How about the Hitachi Travelstar C4K60?

let me know.

thanks.

I recently bought an x30 without a hard drive, and I put in a 100GB Hitachi 7K100.

This is just about the fastest drive you can get, and it will make your system much speedier than if you installed a 4200RPM drive.

I changed the bios parameters, and now the drive is virtually silent. I am VERY happy with this drive. Very fast and very quiet!

If you shop around, you can get it for just over $100.

EDIT: Sorry, you need a 1.8" drive. Never mind.

C4K60 with IDE connector will work.

7K100 won't work since X40 can only use 1.8" drives.

Well, if you are talking about 1.8inch form factor drive, then all hatachi 1.8inch hard drive will fit your x40.

You just missed a good deal. AsiaFish had 60G drive for $100 which is a steal.

If you go to eBay, you may be able to find some 40G for around $80. I recently do not like eBay due to a lot of spams. But I am pretty sure you can get a 40G at that price.

To Ferrell--this is X40, not x31. it takes HD different from X31 or any ordinary laptops.
currently own X61S, T42, X31, Macbook Pro Unibody i5

Actually Hitachi 1.8 inch drives with ZIF connector will not work in X40.
