X41 tablet BSOD after undocking

#1 Post by kextyn » Fri Oct 20, 2006 10:30 am

I have a user who is getting a blue screen of death on a regular basis when he undocks. It's an X41 docked on an X4 dock. I had him duplicate the problem for me and he undocked, opened a Word file, then switched to tablet mode. Within 30 seconds it would go to a BSOD but would not give an error message. The stop code was something like 0x0...0F which I know is a very broad code so I haven't even bothered to look it up. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

For testing I have already taken his tablet, dock, USB floppy, and USB CD-ROM and performed several docks and undocks opening up different programs and switching to tablet mode. I could not get a blue screen no matter what I did.

Also when he's docked the screen is closed and he uses an external monitor (KVM switch, already tested with that connected as well.) When he undocks and opens the screen it will be black unless you press Fn-F7. Any way to make this switch automatically?

X60 BSOD after undocking from X6 ultrabase

#2 Post by mmaciver » Mon Dec 04, 2006 12:48 am

I'm having a similar issue with my X60. Almost every time I undock it from one of my two X6 ultrabases, I get a BSOD. Undocking from the other ultrabase does not cause this problem. There are two things unique to the problem ultrabase: one is the presence of a DVD drive in the ultrabase, the other is an ethernet LAN connection (for the well behaving ultrabase, I connect wirelessly).

I've installed all the latest upgrades yet this problem continues to dog me. Last time I called Lenovo about this BSOD they told me to reinstall windows, which is a major undertaking as I have a large number of applications as well. If anyone else has had this problem and knows of a solution I'd love to know.
