Endless problems with my X41t... what should I do?

#1 Post by Adam » Thu Oct 26, 2006 9:09 pm

Hey guys, I've been having problems with my X41t since I got it. It started with crazy mouse cursor problem that I posted about before (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=19832).

First, I went to an authorized repair centre. They had my laptop for 3-4 weeks and did absolutely nothing to it. Problem persists.

Next, I call IBM directly and get a repair box sent. They returned my laptop within 3 days with a new keyboard, but the problem persists. I told them that I even disable the trackpoint in the bios and used an external mouse... but I guess they ignored that.

Then, I call IBM again to get another repair box sent (this was last week) to hopefully fix the problem. Today I get my X41 back. The Warrany Service form says they replaced the motherboard. But now my laptop thinks it's plugged in and charging all the time! Even when the computer is off and unplugged, the charging indicator light is on. It's the same situation in windows with the charging icon.

Oh, and they didnt' return my stylus the last time too!

So I just got off the phone and they are going to send a 3rd repair box... but I'm contemplating whether I should go in to a repair centre or not. I haven't had luck with either so thats why I'm here. What would you guys do in this situation? The funny thing is now I talked to someone who's actually seen my original problem before and attributed it to a faulty LAN card... LOL

Any info is appreciated as always.

-Adam.
