Screen died!

#1 Post by mpcook » Fri Oct 27, 2006 5:19 pm

The screen on my X30 just died. Sudden. When I hit the fn F4 key to switch internal/external monitor, it gets a very hit of a brief pink glow. It appears totally dead otherwise. Slight difference in that it is totally black when set to external, slightly less black when set to internal. Works fine with external monitor. Any educated guesses as to what may be wrong?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If the panel is not cracked in any way, then try to see if replacing the LCD inverter helps. Also since the external video is still working, I assume the video chip is not fried due to overheat.

Get the hardware maintenance manual -> locate the inverter by following the steps on the manual -> locate the part(FRU) number -> search online to buy one -> replace the inverter and see if it helps.
