Need Replacement Lid Latch For X41

#1 Post by jyl » Sat Oct 28, 2006 3:04 pm

Hi everyone. I just joined the forum, and wanted to ask a couple of Thinkpad questions. The question that belongs in this sub-forum is -

- The sliding portion of the lid latch has broken in half. I mean the "tongue" piece that can be slid to one position if the lid is closed in laptop mode, or to a different position if the lid is closed in tablet mode.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement piece? More generally, what is a good source for Thinkpad replacement parts?

i am not too sure about this,
do your X41 is still covered under warranty?

my impression of the Latch is that X4x is far more solid and better than my X60s now.

The X40 latch was solid.

The X41 Tablet latch is pretty solid but, turns out, if the laptop drops and hits at just the right angle, the latch "tongue" (that is what I am calling it) shears in half.

I don't think it is under warranty any more.

Isn't the X41T warranty period 3 years?

3 yrs - hmm, I didn't realize that. I bought it used on eBay so have been working under the assumption that I have no chance of getting help from factory warranty. I will contact Lenovo. Thanks.

You can plug your machine type and serial number into the Lenovo site and get the status of any remaining warranty.
