It's easier to buy and upgrade memory. So, you should get a 40GB model.

sorry man, its just too much out of my price range. But thanks so much for your help. Also, if you can lower it to the 600 range, I would consider it.

Anyways, also...could you guys help explain why the guy selling me the x40, waranttee expired already? I thought all x40 come with 3 year warantee (and the x40 came out in '04)

No, the tabook from August 2005 lists several X40-versions with one year warranty.

No I won't lower it to the $600 range. The warranty is worth about $80 per year. You will not find a mint-condition X40 with 2 years of warranty for $760 elsewhere. The 1.8" hard drives are expensive to replace, so it's good to buy an X40 with warranty.

Is that correct? 1.8" 5400 rpm?

Yeah, back when I wrote the post, there was a Factory Refurb on Ebay for that price. I just did another quick search on the P/N, and one seller by the name of prowlerguy111, and it's listed under Renew Computer.

He supposedly has 19 of the 60GB 5400 1.8" drives for $175.00 with a Buy It Now option only. Scanning through the post, this seller doesn't say factory refurb or anything like that... I don't know, I'd be hesitant to buy it from a place called Renew Computer, with a seller ID of prowlerguy111 (just my 2cents).

When last I checked, the real deal new stuff would be in excess of $240

Duffy,

You're absolutely right. I made the mistake. It should be 4200rpm. Hope I didn't confuse anyone
