Two other things come to mind:
1. Do you use Lenovo's presentation director? If so, is there a conflicting setting in there?
2. All of my settings are 1024 x 768 @ 32 bits; yours are at 16 bits. Not sure if that matters, but...
Here is a report of my settings and info that was produced by the Intel Graphics Adapter control panel applet. Maybe you could compare with yours.
