Install Windows XP on X41 from pendrive

#1 Post by magstr » Sun Nov 19, 2006 1:19 pm

Two days ago, I bought a used IBM X41. (TYPE 2525-6NG, 1.5GHz, 512ram, 60GB hd.)

There is no OS installed and the Thinkpad and it doesn't have any optical drive (So installation from a WinXP install-cd is no option). So im wondering how to install Windows XP from a USB pendrive (Pretec 1GB)

Ive done everyting explained in this article http://www.vandomburg.net/articles/2006 ... p-from-usb but that didn't work for me.

Whats the easiest way to do this?

I had all kinds of trouble trying to install from a USB pen drive and finally gave up and borrowed a USB optical drive from a friend. Or you could purchase an inexpensive USB enclosure and put an optical drive in it, even a drive borrowed temporarily from a desktop PC.
