#1 Post by ntrl » Wed Nov 22, 2006 3:22 am

Hi All.

Maybe somebody to be interested.
Installing minipci wifi to thinkpad X22.

Now modem card not actual, i remove old minipci card (with modem lucent ) and install new Intel Wireless 2915ABG card. But in my city i not found wifi antenns and uf.l connectors :(
I will have to build antenns from PCB. And i do it :)
Wire from antenn i soldered near uf.l connector on minipci card.

Nice job. English isn't so bad.

Did you need to use the no-1802 hack to get the wifi card to work?

No. "Schematic" from wimo.de's antenn "NB-2400 Notebook antenna 2.4GHz" http://www.wimo.de/download/nb-2400datasheet.pdf

Hi,
it looks good.

Sorry for my question - I'm not a technical insider:-)
I plan to install minipci wifi to my TP X30 without built-in antenna.
You used intel 2915ABG. I think it should have some bult-in antenna(?). Is it possilble to use this wifi card without other antenna or is it necessary to buy some (or make something as you did)???

Thanks!

2queueba:

Antenna is necessary. Without it intel 2915ABG work very poorly.

PS. make antenn is simple. :)

Hmmm, I pimped my x30 with additional wireless and bluetooth. Got anntenas for both of them, check www.wireless4laptop.com, they have even plates for replace. BTW, anyone know where can I get a button for bluetooth in a front of the screen?

Hi ntrl,

I have another question...:-)

According to manual or instalation guides (on ibm.com) the antenna should have 2 cables - main antenna cable and auxiliary antenna cable.

But it seems you used just one cable (it's main antenna cable I think). Is it necessary to use 2 cables or just one is enough?

Thanks.
