BIOS Update - new HDD - No OS

#1 Post by OKamp » Wed Nov 22, 2006 5:17 pm

Hi!

I think the phrase "catch 22" applies here:

1: New HDD, the old one had too many CRC errors
2: New set of Restore and Recovey discs (RnR), newer than the notebook
3: the RnR cant complete the process
4: upcoming sentence about biosinfo.inf and "error code 32768"

Suspected a hardware recognition error - the external DVD-drive. But having low-level formatted the HDD with killdisk.exe, and both hardware recognition and formatting went well - that issue is no longer viable.

My guess is that I need to update the BIOS, but can it be done without any OS, like Windows XP? And how?

You could try downloading the diskette version of the BIOS update, and then using a USB floppy drive.
