(Another post about) Bluetooth problems (x41t)

#1 Post by sgaber » Tue Dec 12, 2006 10:33 am

So I must have combed the archives for hours before I broke down and decided to specifically ask for help. My bluetooth stopped working after installing the Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate update from the IBM Software Installer. I have done everything that I can think possible to get this up and running again.

I've uninstalled and disabled the Windows bluetooth stack as per the Microsoft knowledge base article, reinstalled with IBM drivers to no avail, tried to install the windows drivers again to no avail, and generally exasperated myself with the continuous uninstallation and reinstallation of software and different device drivers.

As it stands now my fn+f5 menu will allow me to turn the bluetooth radio on and off, the light on the panel is working, but Under the My bluetooth places i get "No local bluetooth device detected" and in the "Bluetooth Devices" control panel under "Hardware" nothing is showing up. However the device manager tells me that the "Thinkpad Integrated Bluetooth IV" is working normally. I'm currently running the Broadcom 5.0.1.3200 IBM driver, although I've tried Widcomm (3.x i think?) and a few other instantiations of the broadcom driver.

Any help is appreciated, as the inability to use my bluetooth headset is making my life much harder than it needs to be right now.
