My X40 Won't Start

#1 Post by geoleo3 » Wed Feb 07, 2007 1:33 am

Hi,

I have a really grave issue. I was using my X40 in class fine this afternoon, but when I returned home and tried to start the laptop, Windows wouldn't load. I tried all the different boot modes, but nothing worked. I am DESPERATELY seeking any advice on how to solve this issue. I did not save my files and I really need to get it started as soon as possible.

P.S. the furtherest I can go is to the part where it displays the huge Windows XP logo with the ticker-like box at the bottom, but then there will be a blue screen with a error message and the computer quickly shuts itself down. It might be a virus that got in somehow.

Thank you in advance!!!!

If you think Virus, then get a good anti-virus package of your choice (one that includes a boot CD) and attempt to boot the "X" with the CD to check for viruses. You need a bootable CD device for your "X" to do this.

If all fails, get a Knoppix or Barts PE boot CD with networking support to start the "X", network to another machine, copy off the files you need, and re-image the machine.
