ultrabase x3 question

#1 Post by boon » Fri Feb 09, 2007 8:51 pm

Just bought an ultrabase for the x31 and awaiting for it to arrive in a week or so. Since I notice there is an extra battery you can put in bottom of ultrabase, does this means I can put 1 battle in the notebook and another battery in the ultrabase, making the notebook twice the battery life? (If I have 2 batteries that is)

Yes -- it adds 3200 mAh, or about 2/3 of the standard X31 battery. The other option is the X31 extended battery, which clamps onto the bottom of the X31 (instead of the Ultrabase); it's slightly higher capacity than the Ultrabay battery.

Not correct. On the X3x with X3 ultrabase you can attach a second main system battery to the rear of the ultrabase. The connector is hidden by a removable plastic cover. You get double the battery life because you have two full size, main system batteries.

Well, almost...almost 2X the life...but battery life is more like 1.7X as some battery life is spent providing power to the bits inside the ultrabase.

I can? I need to look at my Ultrabase more closely, it appears. So would this work in addition to an Ultrabay battery?

(Personally, I wouldn't really want to carry the weight and bulk of the Ultrabay around, whether with an Ultrabay battery or a second main battery -- that's why I have the extended battery for the times when I need to get 6+ hours out of the laptop.)

thanks, thats great to have as

It's just that I do plan to get a new battery as this one is getting old, and with the ultrabase the old one can still be usable.

My main battery is getting pretty old as well (752 cycles) but I still get fairly decent capacity from it -- 31.54 Wh and almost three hours even with wireless turned on.

Even without the Ultrabase, you can still hibernate and then swap batteries.
