X23 a good deal?

#1 Post by The Spirit of X21 » Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:10 pm

Hey everyone,

Is $244 shipped a good deal on an X23 w/ DVD ultrabase, 30GB drive, and 640MB RAM?

I vote "yes" even if the disk is not huge -- inexpensive disk upgrades are easy to find. The memory is maxed out, and a DVD ultrabase is very nice to have.

Update: Apparently, the X23 actually comes with a dock with DVD/CD-RW. Is the dock considered better than the ultrabase?

I don't know nothing about docks or ultrabases because I hate them, but this X23 is a great deal even without them. The 512MB stick alone is worth $50. You should stop hesitating and get it right away!

It's cool, pw. I just realized that it was a dock and not an ultrabase. As you can see earlier in the thread, though, I did buy it :)

Oh, thank goodness you bought it! How far do you live from Providence? Maybe someday I can visit you and see it. I haven't seen an X23 yet.

Will do! I can show you my lab and the Dell Inspiron 6000 that I use there. BTW, did you buy the X23 through the Providence Craigslist? I check it often but don't recall seeing an X23 recently.

That's wonderful! Is it pretty fast? I'm sure it's faster than the last X22 that I owned, which only had 256MB RAM.

I am extremely busy working on manuscripts but will have more free time in late March. Hopefully we can meet up then and admire each other's laptops!
