External lcd for X31?

#1 Post by dawhim » Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:16 am

what is the max resolution it can go with an external monitor for desktop extended? I haven't tried anything higher than 1280x1024.

I wanna get a 20" or 22" for it, but I don't think the video card can run native resolution with that.

1600x1200 works great -- the only caveat is that it'll only do 16-bit colour depth at that resolution.

sweet, I just got my new acer 22" lcd that do native resolution at 1680x1050. I grabbed omega driver v38252 that would work with my x31 mobility radoen 7000.

everything is working smoothly, I can do 1680x1050 on my acer and 1028x768 on the thinkpad both at 32bit.

32-bit colour, too? Hmmm, maybe I have to try Omega drivers again and see if the new version is happier for me (the one I tried last year kept rebooting my X31).

you need to get Radeon Omega Drivers 3.8.252 (Catalyst 6.5), the latest that support mobility radeon 7000. DO NOT use any newer version that catalyst 6.5, it won't work.

make sure you remove the ATI control panel thing in the window cp.

install omega drivers and then reboot.

Ah, that could explain it all! Thanks very much -- will give the older version a try.
