Wireless Problems with Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG

#1 Post by law663 » Thu Feb 22, 2007 7:44 am

Hi,

I have an X41 Tablet with the Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG 9.0.2.25. Everything was working fine until a few days ago. I don't know what happened, but every time I use battery power or put the computer in standby, I lose my wireless connection. Repairing the connection doesn't help; nor does reinstalling the Intel software. The only thing I can think that I did was create a power profile under the power manager. I've since deleted that profile, but still have this problem. Any ideas what's up?

Thanks,

Steve

Edit: I don't have AC installed; I only use Windows for wireless connections.

the power manager have nothing to do with it.

it is impossible to reconnect wireless connection after a standby? like searching for wireless networks manually.

After standby or locking the computer when I'm away from my desk I cannot get a wireless connection unless I plug the computer in. On batteries, no go. The wireless LED light is on, Windows says it's connected, but when I try to repair the connection, it fails. (yes, I have scanned for spyware and viruses).

This has been discussed in the T4x forum for a while:

I still don't understand what the solution is. I updated the Linksys router fireware yesterday (yep, it's a WRT54G) but no luck.

Quote from projectx: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... light=2915

"If you check the driver settings of your wireless card, you will find a setting for powersaving. When this is set to Low your card works extremely slow as it's set to use the least amount of energy. Set it back to high and your problems are over."

Perhaps then if you adjust the power setting on the wireless card you can improve the reception (Device Manager -> Intel 2915 -> Properties Tab -> Advanced).
