#1 Post by csv96 » Thu May 20, 2004 4:25 pm

I'm planning to install SP2 RC1 on my Thinkpad X40. Any compatibility issues with Access Connections, etc.,?

I had some bugs on my T41 (Spare hard drive, not production). I reported them to Microsoft, but I don't see SP2 RC1 to be a production move just yet. .... jdhurst

It could not deal with the new IBM website way of having to agree before the file download launches. It could not reliably perform Windows Updates (it did work after a fashion). I can't remember all the issues, but the two above were show stoppers for me. I tried reloading the Service Pack to no avail. So I just figure they are still working out the bugs. I also found the new Security Centre to be intensely annoying, and I wasn't willing to put a lot of work into disabling the crap and tuning SP2 only to have to uninstall it for a new release candidate. ... jdhurst

Thanks for the info. That's more than enough to keep me from trying it.
