X30 -1200mhz. Running at 797.4mhz?

#1 Post by shirleywhite » Mon Mar 05, 2007 2:24 pm

Hi all. Just bought an X30 - Type 2672. Bios reports it as 1200mhz. Windows reports on system page that its a "1200mhz - but then shows 797.4 mhz as the speed. I ran CPUZ to check. Comes up as Core speed 797.4 - Multiplier x6 - FSB 132.9mhz and Bus speed 132.9mhz !!

How do I get it to run at 1200?? I tried various "power" options - running with power adaptor etc never switching off etc but still showed 797mhz. Tried on battery - but spped went down to something like 504 in windows? Any help/ideas please ?? Is it the ram? 2 sticks of pc133 x256mg ?? Is there a bios setting i've missed??? Thanks ( sorry to be a noob!!??)

Apologies - think sorted now!! I'd missed the Speedstep settings in the bios - and also the power setting now switched to min battery saving. Seem to be running now at full 1.2ghz !!

IBM X31(2672 C8G): CPU: 1.4G(Centrino); HDD: 80GB(Western Digital), RAM: 768MB(Kingston); Wi-Fi; Win XP SP2

It's not Centrino since the X30 has a Pentium III-M CPU. :) But she found the problem herself, so that's good!
