x24 network cable unplugg/ing wifi

installed a BCM94306 minipci, my Estellana (x24) came dual antennaed, got the right driver, yet,

yet
when contacting my computer about it's progress keeping an ear to the web it stubbornly asserts that the Local Area Connection 3 (and LAC2 for whatever that's worth) has a network cable unplugged.

(note: when installing the BCM hardware there was a wire that was not suffered to attach to my new G wifi card - is its detached distress the cause of my consternation?)
