Question about powered usb on x41 (maybe other models too)

#1 Post by matt.choules » Fri Mar 09, 2007 11:02 pm

Ok, this might seem a stupid question (most them are when they start off this way), but i have looked into it and not found anything out really... So...

What use is the IBM Powered USB 2.0 port?

It's smaller than a regular usb port, and i can't seem to find any accessories/adapters that will fit it to actually utilise it...

Comments?

first of all watch out: that powered usb port has 15v!!! not like regular usb port 5v
what's the use of it...that's a darn boog question! besides the external combo driver (old version which was running with 15v) have no knowledge of any device which could be powered from that port

I think IBM made some USB drives that could use that small USB port. Those drives could also use standard USB ports, but they would require two of those to get enough power.
